The Hisey-McDermott Team: 50+ Years Combined Experience Moving You In The Right Direction

Heather Hisey’s career in Real Estate began at a very early age: when she was five years old her father, one of Oakville’s pioneer realtors, took her with him door knocking on the street where they lived. “He would introduce himself and tell the neighbours what he did for a living. After about the tenth house he allowed me to do the talking” says Heather. “I introduced him to the neighbour on our street and about 25 to 30 years later they actually called us to sell their house!”

Lezlie McDermott’s passion for real estate started a little later but still early on. When she was seventeen she worked at the reception desk at a local real estate company. “That’s how I met Heather” she says. “She would come into the office with her dad”. Lezlie went on to study in Halifax and spent a few years travelling. When she moved back to Oakville she got her real estate license while working as an administrative assistant to 3 local realtors.

The two ladies got together in 2009 and formed The Hisey-McDermott Team. “It was a natural fit” says Lezlie. “I knew the business from the back end from all my years in administration while Heather had lots of experience working with clients.”

Bronte is a big deal to both ladies. Not only did they both grow up there but they still live in and love the area — and their entire families have called Bronte their home. “My grandpa fished in Bronte and he was one of the volunteer firefighters here. All my mom’s family, the Scarrow’s, grew up here” says Heather. “My husband, 3 kids and grand kids attend or attended Eastview Public School.” Lezlie shares a similar story. She and her husband attended Q.E. Park High School after attending Gladys Speers and Eastview Public School.

The Team belongs to two Real Estate Boards – Oakville and Toronto – so they can best serve clients no matter where they live or want to move. “The internet has allowed people to see the value of moving. That, coupled with the current real estate boom that is going on in Ontario is causing a lot of our clients to sell their Oakville or Burlington home and relocate in Brantford, Stoney Creek, Grimsby, St Catharines – even Binbrook and Beamsville” says Lezlie. “This often allows people to downsize in price so they can be mortgage free and also allows the first time Buyer an affordable price point.”
The Hisey-McDermott Team focuses on residential real estate but doesn’t niche. “We love the southwest Oakville and Burlington areas, however, wherever our clients want to go we go.” says Heather. “Our clients have a comfort level, because we are part of two boards, we can best serve them in selling their Oakville or Burlington home as well as purchasing a home in another area.”

The Hisey-McDermott difference is a unique approach to real estate that blends caring advice with practical professionalism. “In our 57+ years of combined experience we have learned two important lessons to ensure success for our clients: Number 1: Real Estate is a relational business. You must have good relationships not only with your clients but with fellow realtors in order to best serve. Number 2: Integrity. You have to be able to look at yourself in the mirror” says Lezlie. “We have been through the ups and downs of the market and being able to sustain and expand business speaks volumes.” Heather says: “We’re here to work!”
