KW Animal Save and London Pig Save will be delivering a petition (below) to Crown Attorney Elizabeth Ward’s office on Wednesday April 18th regarding Benjamin Stein, the man responsible for the deaths of 1500 animals killed in the largest case of animal cruelty in Canadian history.
The petition will be delivered to the Crown’s office at 44 Queen Street, 2nd Floor, in BRANTFORD, Ontario, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday April 18th.
The petition asks the Crown to request that part of Benjamin Stein’s sentencing be that he not have animals in his care ever again, considering the 1500 pigs who died because of his severe and deliberate neglect. Stein stopped feeding and caring for his animals completely, and left them imprisoned in his barn to die of starvation and neglect. The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals inspectors waded through water and excrement and dead bodies up to their waists at some points, and found animals cannibalizing the dead bodies around them. Stein also, within the six months or so before he abandoned these animals, had both a fire and a toxic gas leak in the same barn full of defenseless baby pigs.
KW Animal Save and London Pig Save want to ensure that the animal victims are remembered in this case. We will also be present with many of our supporters at Benjamin Stein sentencing on Thursday April 26th at the SIMCOE Courthouse.
We are part of the 340 groups in 42 countries across the world that make up The Worldwide Save Movement, a love-based grassroots movement started in Toronto 8 years ago. Our goals are to raise awareness about the plight of the 56 billion land animals and the countless billions of aquatic animals imprisoned and killed for food every year, and the devastating effects this “industry” has on the planet and the climate.
